Hollow Sheet Raw Materials mainly consist of thermoplastic resins such as PP, PE, PVC, and PC. The core features include lightweight and high strength, moisture-proof and corrosion-resistant, insulation and heat insulation, environmental friendliness and recyclability, ease of processing, and the ability to be modified to adapt to different scenarios.
1. Common substrates and characteristics
PP (Polypropylene, the most commonly used): Low density (≈0.91g/cm³), good rigidity, heat-resistant (-20℃~120℃), resistant to acids and alkalis, non-toxic for food contact; low-temperature toughness is average, and PP copolymer materials are often used to enhance impact resistance.
PE (Polyethylene, including HDPE/LDPE): HDPE has excellent rigidity and weather resistance, suitable for outdoor use; LDPE has good flexibility and is resistant to low temperatures (-40℃), suitable for cushioning packaging; overall, it has good chemical resistance, waterproofing, and electrical insulation.
PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride): Strong in rigidity, flame retardant, insulating, and resistant to aging; Be aware of the migration of plasticizers, commonly used in building partitions and advertising boards.
PC (Polycarbonate, Sunlight Panel): High transparency (transmittance ≈ 80%), extremely high impact resistance, heat-resistant (-40℃ ~ 120℃), weather-resistant; The cost is relatively high, and it is used for lighting, greenhouses, and bulletproof scenarios.
2. Core Common Characteristics
Lightweight and high strength (high specific strength)
Hollow structure + low-density resin, approximately 30% lighter than solid wood boards in weight, and saves 30%-50% material compared to solid boards of the same strength; excellent in bending, impact resistance, and compression performance, and less prone to cracking.
Waterproof and moisture-proof + Resistant to chemical corrosion
The resin itself does not absorb water, and the hollow structure does not accumulate water. It is 100% waterproof and moisture-proof; resistant to acids, alkalis, salts, oils and most solvents, suitable for humid / chemical environments.
Insulation and heat insulation + Sound insulation
Low thermal conductivity (PP ≈ 0.22 W/m・K), the hollow air layer further insulates and retains heat; excellent electrical insulation, suitable for electrical/electronic applications; the hollow structure reduces noise, and the sound insulation effect is better than that of solid plates.
Environmental safety + Recyclable
Non-toxic and odorless (food-grade PP), low energy consumption and low emissions during production; 100% recyclable, can be mixed with 20%-30% recycled materials, in line with the green trend.
Easy to process + Customizable
Cuttable, bendable, heat-bent, weldable, printable, drillable; colors, thickness (2-12mm), structure (grid / corrugated / honeycomb) can be customized; adding additives can achieve anti-UV, flame-retardant, anti-static, conductive and other functions.
